One of the finer traditions we have at our school, if you are so inclined, is for the teacher to meet up with his or her lower- and higher-level students once in a while for dinner, lots of talk and, yes, a few drinks. We call it a “Kurstreffen” (course meetup). This might be frowned upon in the US and other countries, especially the drinks part, no idea, but these past 21 years or so I’ve enjoyed a ton of those evenings which also allowed me to, more or less, get to know the people better that have or have had to put up with me for about 2.5 years minimum.

Tonight is the last one (the third one?) with my current higher-level Social Studies course before they enter what is commonly called “real life”. I’m looking forward to it.
