Jacob Karlzon 3

Having followed a friend’s recommendation, I’m really digging Jacob Karlzon‘s most recent releases on ACT, a label that occupies a substantial section on my shelves. In the tradition of Scandinavian musicians like Esbjörn Svensson, Tord Gustavsen and with a healthy dose of Tonbruket thrown in, the Jacob Karlzon 3 continue to develop a sound I never seem to get tired of. So, this weekend I’m going to put the above three releases on repeat and have a much closer listen to what Karlzon does in the improvisational department. Check him out and give the breadth of his lyrical as well as sometimes deftly electronic approach a chance to grow on you.
