IKEA is still the place I often find myself turning to when I quickly need to fix a problem and, much to my surprise, that’s also often the case after having looked around the Internet for (much) pricier alternatives.
Once again, in this special case, IKEA was the only company that offered exactly what I was looking for. The problem was very simple: I needed a light-weight and sizeable desk that I could easily move around my apartment because I like (and sometimes have to) work in different rooms.
After searching the Internet thin for small portable desks, it was IKEA’s Hilver that came to the rescue.
- It clocks in at around 9 to 10 kilograms (length: 140 cm / depth: 65cm / height: 73cm),
- it cost a mere 119 Euro all told,
- its design (clear-coated bamboo) fits nicely with what I have and, now that I have it,
- it’s sturdy, very easily assembled and a piece of cake to lug around.
No matter what price bracket I looked in, this was the only alternative I could find on the global market.
P.S.: I’ll probably be buried in an IKEA coffin as well.
