If I Were Younger, …

… I would probably much prefer the films based on James Dashner’s Maze Runner series to the Hunger Games movie franchise. Both have their faults and are definitely lacking in the book-to-screen department, but without really wanting to put a finger on it in greater detail, Hunger Games just doesn’t jell with me … at all. It seems partially overproduced and just leaves me utterly cold.

Despite the criticism leveled at Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, with a sizable amount of flak hitting it from different sides, it is a rip-roaring yarn which to my sensitivities is produced and filmed well and (that’s the kicker) actually has actors that don’t seem like they’re on screen because lots of money has been thrown at them.

I’m looking forward to the last part, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which will supposedly be hitting screens in February of 2017.

As things stand at the moment, I’ll probably be skipping the second part of Hunger Games: Mockingjay and listen to a good CD instead.
